French adventurer Charles Hedrich (51) is to attempt to travel from the North Pole to the South Pole, taking less than a year in the process. His route will take him through Europe, West Africa and South America.

The expedition will start from the corner of the airport in Kangerlussuaq (in Sønderstrøm Fjord) and finish at a small village nearby Isortoq on the other side of the land.

Thule to Thule

A distance at about 3500 km will be covered by the two participants of this expedirion, Danish Erik Bruun Jørgensen and Jesper Melin Ganc-Petersen, over 3-4 months across Greenland. Only by sledge, skis and kites.

Peary Centennial North Pole Expedition

On March 1, 2009 a trio of polar explorers led by Lonnie Dupre will begin an epic 600 mile ski journey from Ward Hunt Island, Canada to the North Pole in the footsteps of Robert E. Peary.

Christina Franco North Pole Solo

Early March 2009, Briton Christina Franco (43) will attempt to complete the first female solo expedition to the North Pole. The 775 km journey from Ward Hunt in northern Canada will be undertaken on foot pulling supplies including food and fuel on a sled.

John Huston (32, Chicago) and Tyler Fisher (34, Minnesota) will try the trek Ward Hunt North Pole. They want to be the first Americans to walk unsupported to the North Pole. They passionately pursue challenge in order to engage life to their full potential.

For their own pleasure and satisfaction, Emma Simonsson (26, Sweden), Vera Simonsson (28, Sweden), Ingbjoerg Tollefsen (27, Norway) and Kristin Folsland Olsen (28, Norway) have deceided to go for an 80 days unusual trek on Baffin Island.

Save the Poles 2009

In 2009, Eric Larsen will begin an unprecedented journey to the top, bottom and roof of the world. During a continuous 365-day period, Larsen will mount major expeditions to the summit of Mt. Everest, the South Pole and North Pole. This feat has never been completed in one year. To date, only 15 people (no Americans) in history have been to all three poles'.

Catlin Arctic Survey

This scientific endeavour begins in early February 2009. The expedition is being led by highly experienced polar explorer Pen Hadow. Accompanying him will be Ann Daniels, one of the world's foremost female polar explorers and Martin Hartley, leading expedition photographer.
