New “handisport” adventure

Between 12th April and 5th May, a handicapped adventurer and two French students will strap on their cross-country skis and cover 200 km about a thousand kilometres away from the North Pole. They will attempt to scale Newtontoppen, a peak situated to the north-east of Longyearbyen, the capital of Spitsbergen.

  It will be a long time before the three men on this pleasant expedition get over their disappointment at not being able to climb Mount Newton (Newtontoppen).

  Even seemingly less extreme and hazardous adventures can experience setbacks. The three-man expedition has fallen behind schedule and has now had to abandon its plans to climb Mount Newtontoppen.
