This section centralises the names, nationalities and short bios of the polar explorers that have appeared on this website since it was launched in November 1997. Please bear in mind that this section is a work in progress

  • Gjeldnes Rune

    Gjeldnes Rune (Norway)

    Born 1971-05-20, in Surnadal, Norway, Rune Gjeldnes is a Norwegian adventurer holding the records of the longest ski journey without being resupplied and the longest ski journey. He is the only person to ski across the North Pole, the South Pole and Greenland without resuplies.

  • Gjersoe Gregers

    Gjersoe Gregers (Denmark)

    Born in 1958, Gjersøe Gregers is living with his girl friend and 3 children. Ordinarily he is working as a pilot in SAS. His passion for the Polar Regions starts in 1995 when he visited the polar museum in Tromsø. He was completely absorbed by the adventure that surrounded the old polar explorers.

    Caroline Hamilton is a recordbreaking polar explorer and a successful businesswoman. She shares her experiences and insights into human potential in speeches that are moving, humorous and inspirational.

  • Hartley Catharine

    Hartley Catharine (United Kingdom)

    Originally from Chichester, England but now living in London, Catharine has worked as a stage manager and location manager for theatre and then for the BBC. Catharine and Fiona Thornewill became the first women to walk (man hauling their supplies) to both the North and South Poles.

    Martin Hartley is a photograph who specialises in documenting the most inaccessible parts of the planet. His sustained commitment to capture the beauty of unadulterated landscapes and remote communities has taken him to some of the most isolated and challenging locations in the world.

  • Hayes Adrian

    Hayes Adrian (Great Britain)

    Adrian Hayes is the Dubai-based British polar adventurer, mountaineer and environmentalist, who holds the record for reaching the "3 Poles" of the Earth (walking all the way to the North Pole, the South Pole and summiting Mt Everest) in the shortest period of time in history.

  • Hempleman-Adams David

    Hempleman-Adams David (United Kingdom)

    Born 1956 in Swindon, David Hemplemann-Adams is an English explorer. He is the first man in history to reach the Geographic and Magnetic North and South Poles as well as climb the highest peaks in all seven continents, a feat he christened the Adventurers' Grand Slam.
