The group of tourists (five people) guided by Christian Eide is going back to Hercules Inlet. Despite some head winds and sastrugis fields, they are making good progress and hope to be at Hercules Inlet on time.

Weber’s tourists at the Pole !

Richard Weber has made it to the South Pole with 3 clients. They had left the Ronne Iceshelf on 23 November. On the way, two people had to be rescued. Because of a infection for one and because of a broken wrist for the second.

Pat Farmer has arrived in Antarctica. On 31 December, he started running -probably leaving from Hercules Inlet. As for the other legs of his adventure, he will have a team with him along the way. Here it's a skidoo and a van under the reponsability of the famous Australian explorer Eric Philips.

Since they reached the Plateau, both teams have to endure most terrific temperatures -with no doubt the coldest they knew so far : - 48°C for Amundsen Team, about the same lowest for Scott team (with wind chill).

Copeland/McNair : Ten liters of white fuel gone (in the sledge) !

On 29 December, because of one sastrugi too many hit by Copeland's sledge, one of the fuel container cracked a small hole from so hard object beneath it that half of his sledge contents was straight away contaminated. What a setback !
