A wonderful day

The team of Ryan Waters and Cecilie Skog continue to wonder at the sheer beauty of the continent as they get closer to the Pole with each passing day.
And in this festive season, our explorers also celebrated Christmas. In their own way, of course. If the few lines they wrote about their day are anything to go by, the two adventurers had a great time and will always have excellent memories of their Christmas on ice.
First of all, they had fine weather (minus 28°C outside their tent, but much warmer, of course, inside) and an amazing sun that shone down brightly to warm them up nicely with its rays. Then there was the Christmas tree that hung from the side of the tent, plus decorations, greetings cards and an array of little gifts. Finally, the menu for the evening meal included chocolate mousse. What more could you ask for to celebrate Christmas in style?
On 24th December, Waters and Skog were 180 km from their goal. Which means that they should reach the South Pole at some stage during the first week of January. That said, they have not yet mentioned (or maybe have stopped thinking about) the possibility they mooted before setting out of continuing on to the Ross Ice Shelf once they have reached the South Pole.
