A World First for Felicity Aston

Brisitsh female explorer Felicity Aston has finally reached Hercules Inlet on time, on 22 January 2012. She then became the first woman to have succeeded to cross the entire Antarctica, from shore to shore, solo.
The first final datas have been published as soon as Aston had reached her goal : she was on the ice for 59 days and had covered 1.744 kilometers.
She departed from the foot of the Leverett glacier on 25 November, took the direction of the South Pole where she arrived on 21 December, welcome by the trucks of EWR. Two days alter, on 23 December in the morning, she left the Amudnsen-Scott American base (always alone) and made her way back to Hercules Inlet.
The very last days have been favorable to the female expeditioner : she had no winds and a gentle sunshine she could take a glance at when she woke up in the morning. And of course as soon as she was certain to be able to make it (about three days ago) her stress and hallucinations disappeared.
For the present time, no Twin Otter could fly from Union Gacier ALE base camp yet to come and pick her up ; the weather is again a disaster...
