Everythink is OK for McNair and her clients

Published on 29.03.2010 - Icecap Journeys

For the little group led by Sarah McNair-Landry, everything seems to be going OK, especially after their resupply and the successful drop of fuel and fresh victuals.

Day 28, 27 March: the team today covered 7.4 nautical miles, which is 13.7 kilometres. During the previous night, they had drifted 1.5 nautical miles (2.7km) towards the west-south-west. The temperature stayed at around -27°C and the wind during the day got up to 15kph. The trio also finally started to get to some older ice, which made their progress a little easier. They are of course still encountering some interstitial waters but, once on the ice, it's less chaotic for them and better for skiing.

On previous days, the trio had not fallen foul of the drift. And it had benefitted from it to celebrate the birthday of Rob, the husband of Linda, with a special chocolate cake, a candle and some soup kept in the luggage for this date. The fact that there was more daylight each day (the sun climbing higher on the horizon) stiffened the adventurers' resolve. They will long remember the fact that the Twin had successfully dropped their resupply just a few feet from where they were.
