Finally off and drifting…

The trio has at last managed to locate an ice floe suitable for the purposes of their adventure.
Extracts from their log: "Position: 65° 31.600' N / 36° 57.012' W. We have finally managed to find an ice floe that suits our needs. It is approximately 1000 m2 in area and is thick enough to stand up to bumping against other floes. The weather is fine, we have the time to fish and our camp is quite comfortable, although the snow is melting very quickly. A small lake of freshwater has formed on the floe.
We have been drifting gently west-south-west, passing to the north of Kulusuk. We can see Cape Dan in the distance.
The wind changed direction this morning and we are now drifting northwards. Overall, the rate of drift is slow, with the local micro-currents changing direction frequently. We come across other floes of sea-ice quite often. Any movement is unpredictable and very variable, with no continuity.
Out in the open sea, we can see icebergs that are drifting faster than we are. Given the fact that our current rate of drift is so slow, we have decided to set off towards the south to try and find another ice floe that we hope will be moving more quickly. We plan to be back in Tasillaq by Tuesday."
