Fine Reward for the Larsen Trio

Published on 05.01.2010 - General Info

The commercial expedition, led by Eric Larsen and consisting of the Canadian Liu Dong Sheng and the Irishman William Hanton, has duly arrived at the South Pole.

We had hardly finished writing our latest update on the Larsen expedition when the news broke: the trio had just arrived at the Pole: this was on 4 January.

They had taken 47 days to achieve their final goal. On the last day of their trek, they covered 21 nautical miles. Remember that this commercial expedition is enshrined within a larger context: Eric Larsen, who indeed wants to make as many people as possible aware of the need to protect the Polar Regions, has decided to try to conquer the three poles (the North Pole, the South Pole and Everest) in less than 365 days.

So we will find him next season on the moving ice of the Arctic Ocean.
