First fresh supplies

The trio has arrived without incident at its first resupply point. Happiness and a chance to rest...
Like the other expeditions out on the pack-ice, the group guided by Sarah McNair-Landry is moaning about the negative drift of the ice, which is causing them to lose the distance they are covering during the day.
On 19th March, Linda wrote in her log: "Last night we drifted 3.8 kilometres -southwards, of course. Which means we have lost virtually all the ground we made today. It's infuriating! Which is why we have decided to increase our work rate to 8.5 hours a day of sledge-hauling. This will enable us to reach our second stage soon at 85 degrees North. And we'll do that even if the drift continues. Right now, as I write these few lines for the evening update, our GPS is indicating that we are drifting at the rate of one-tenth or even two-tenths of a knot per hour..."
On 21st March, after marching for three hours and advancing 4 kilometres, the trio reached the location where they had dropped the sacks for their first set of fresh supplies. As if to celebrate the event, the weather was set fair and the temperature was no lower than minus 29°C. And for the first time in several days, there was no negative drift in the pack-ice. This meant that the mood in the group was excellent and morale sky-high. Now for the second part of their journey.
