Three needles in a haystack…

The three companions of the commercial expedition being guided by Eric Larsen are all well. They have been out on the ice for almost a month now and there has been nothing significant to report.
Nothing to report? Well, not exactly. Because on 5th December 2009, on day 19 of the adventure, Eric Larsen drew the attention of his readers/followers to the climate conference in Copenhagen. To do so, he used an article published by The Guardian that asks all the right questions and at the same time puts forward some of the answers. For example: Which countries will agree to make dramatic reductions to their emissions of CO2? Who will pick up the bill? Is the fight against rampant deforestation the best way to reduce CO2 on Earth? What about emissions trading? Etc.
And while this was going on, Bill (William Hanlon) philosophised about the meaning of things, realising that humans are very small in the face of his hostile, white natural surroundings. "In actual fact, what we are doing is of absolutely no interest," he wrote on 4th December. "The Antarctic is not even aware that we are here. Perhaps after all this part of the world is important for its very existence...."
On 6th December, they had bad weather, but could still just about see the Thiel Mountains.
