Truly Delighted, The Three Of Them

Sarah McNair-Landry and her two clients, Linda Beilharz and her husband Rob Rigato, are enjoying a rather easy start to their expedition.
Deposited on the ice earlier than envisaged, on 28 February, the three adventurers are on top of the world. Admittedly, they have experienced, like the other teams starting from same place, alarming glacial chaos for the first kilometres of their trek but, by progressing by twenty or so kilometres each day, they have got to some ice that is flatter and, above all, have been able to follow, on several occasions, the frozen ice channels that are fortunately heading North. As for the temperatures, they have been oscillating at around -30°C. No major difficulties therefore in this first part of the expedition.
On 17 March, the eighteenth day of their adventure, they announced that they had spent a third of the time that they had been allocated to get to the North Pole. For most of this season's expeditions, indeed, it is Viktor Boyarski and his logistics (established as is known in Barneo for two months) who will be going to look for them at the Pole. But please note, the deadline set by the Russians this year for being able to put down an MI8 at the North Pole is 26 April, at the absolute latest. Beyond that, no recovery would be possible.
On 14 March, the 15th day of the expedition, Degree 1 was exceeded. The drift of the ice-barrier seems to be insignificant this year - which was not the case last season, for example.
